from the southeast portion of Sayer and Bennett's larger 1775
map of Pennsylvania, entitled "A Map of Pennsylvania...Laid
down from Actual Surveys, and Chiefly from the Late Map of W.
Scull..." , this map section shows forts, creeks and rivers,
wagon roads, trails, the location of religious meetings and
many mills, stretching from modern Fulton County in the southwest
north to Wyoming County. The populous southeast corner shows
the greatest detail, with western and northern areas still mostly
wilderness. Berks, Cumberland and Northampton Counties are still
vast tracts of land. |
